What To Do After A Car Accident

What You Need to Know

Have You Been in A Car Accident?

If you are injured in a crash, assuming you are able to, you should always call 911. Be safe!

Sometimes getting out of your car after an accident can be dangerous. Be sure that other traffic has stopped and you are not at risk of being struck by oncoming traffic.

Do your best to get the names and contact information of any witnesses. You never know if the other driver will be honest about what happened.

In some crashes, it is obvious that you need to be taken to the hospital; however, many times paramedics will ask if you want them to take you. You will have to determine if you need to go to the hospital by ambulance, or if you can drive yourself, or if it can wait until the next day.

When in doubt, take the safest option. It’s better to go to the hospital and not need to, than to need to and not go. If you are able to take pictures of the scene, do so, preferably before any of the cars are moved.
